Caleb Liu is an Asian-American media composer. A computer science graduate from Stanford University, he is invested in discovering novel and artful applications of frontier technology to creative fields. His 25+ media scores have been recognized across the independent film circuit, receiving multiple Best Original Score wins in oscar-qualifying Festivals. He is consistently inspired by stories about technology, diaspora, and underdogs.
Caleb's breadth of musical experience shows his drive to seek out music in every form. He grew up as an orchestral tubist, excelled as a classical pianist, placing in 15+ Northern California competitions, and played in college band for 3 years as a keyboardist (with occasional fill-ins as a bassist and drummer) in 20+ concerts—including headlining 'Day n Mayfield', a $100k budget festival. He frequently collaborates as a producer with singer-songwriter Dalynn Miller (7M+ streams on Spotify).
Caleb strengthens his scoring by engaging directly in the filmmaking world. To this end, he led his high-school's film club, wrote and directed a 30 minute film for his senior thesis, interned at Paramount and Disney's technology teams, and regularly PA's for his friend's films.
Outside of film scoring, Caleb is currently an engineer for Disney's Studio Technology team, exploring cutting-edge technologies to empower world-class filmmakers at Marvel Studios, Disney Motion Picture Productions, 20th Century Studios, and Searchlight Pictures. He is also a marketing enthusiast, currently leading strategy for the most followed milk brand on TikTok (https://gotcowjuice.com).
